Pienza
For the beauty of its old Renaissance center in 1996, Pienza became part of the Natural, Artistic and Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, followed in 2004 by the same valley where it rises: the Val d´Orcia.
It is a rare example of Renaissance urbanism accomplished. Defined from time to time as the ´ideal city´, the ´utopian city´, today represents one of the constructive ways in which in the Renaissance years an attempt was made to create a model of life and ´ideal´ government on earth by elaborating a ´Idea of a city that was able to give concrete answers to the desire for peaceful civilian coexistence of men. It is very famous for the production of cheeses of all kinds that can be bought in the many shops in the historic center.
